I’m Forrest Purdom, I train and board dogs of every breed and age! I have been training dogs for over 10 years and I love it; call it my passion! That's why we specialize in the hard to handle cases, even if you've been told "There's NO hope for your dog!" I am here to tell you "THERE IS!"

Over 10 years ago I started my journey in dog behavior without even realizing it. It started when I was in high school; I worked with a friend's dog who had aggression issues. I started training them and created a bond even my friend did not have with their dog.

What We Offer
Dog Boarding
We are not a typical boarding facility, where your dog will be forced in kennels throughout the day and all night long. We take dogs into our own home and treat them as if they were our own.
Dog Training
Here at Home Away from Home Boarding, we use a balanced based approach to show you how to be true best friends with "Man's Best Friend!" With the help of my pack of 6 expertly trained 'Ninja Hounds', we teach everything from their commands to even working on any of your dogs behavior's from overly excited, scared, anxious, or even aggressive dogs!
Most importantly, we train YOU to enable you to effectively communicate with your pup for when the behavior resurfaces.
We offer one-to-ones sessions at our location, or we can even come to you for an in house dog training session. We can work on any thing your dog needs help with, and train you how to do it too!
We offer Board and Training courses, If your dog is in need of board and training (where we take them and do most the work at our home) and then train you so you can implement the same training when they return home from our board and train.
We also stick around by offering follow up classes after the board and train course, for every week your dog attends our course you will get two sessions! That way we can help with anything that might still be showing its head after the board and train course. Over the years, we have learned dogs will go back to the way they were if you don't practice the exercises we lay out for you when your dog comes home. These follow ups help us keep you and your pack on track! They are our best friends after all, shouldn't we do everything we can to make sure they have the life they deserve? I sure think so and that's why we want to offer so many personal sessions with our board and train course!

Location Dog Boarding, and Dog Board and training is located in Delhi, CA. Dog Boarding is also available in Denair CA.
Dog Boarding
When boarding, we do not use kennels. That being said your pup will get the advantage to play in all areas alongside my pack, and come inside during the heat and at night. With our pet insurance, you can have reassurance while leaving town knowing your fur baby is safe at their Home Away From Home. We have 3 locations for dog boarding, with over 7 Acres of land that includes play areas and plenty of dog runs (For overnight dog boarding, all dogs come in and sleep inside.)

What to Expect From our Board and Train Course
All Board and training courses come with personal 1-2-1 sessions, on drop off, pick up, and starting the second week you get 2 more sessions for every week they attend. You will come down after every week to visit and work with your dog and go over the material we have been working on, the second session you get to save for after your dog comes home, you can either bring them back or set up a zoom meeting so we can help with anything after the course! During the course we will also be sending you videos of their progress.
We will start the board and train course with a personal session on Drop off and teach you how to build the foundation's of engagement training, and classical conditioning
After you say goodbye we will continue the training by reinforcing what we went over.
The next step will be to start working on Leash Pressure and Luring.
Once your dog has that foundation down in a calm neutral environment, We move on to Verbal commands, and off leash training.
Once they start to get this down we will move on to training with Distractions, and Navigating New environments.
With Behavior issues, reactive and aggressive cases we will also be adding to their daily Routine. What we need to do will depend on the issues at hand. Our goal will be to expose them to their triggers and problem areas in controlled settings so we can set them up for success!
Dogs attending our Board and train, may come with us when we have a personal session with someone else, or When we go to town they may come with us so we can reinforce the training in real life scenarios, when they are ready. This typically starts by week 2.
Bear in mind that even the most obedient dog can fall back into their old habits if the rules aren't consistently enforced at home. As a result, your commitment to practicing and applying these lessons within your home environment holds the key to success. After the board and train course, is when your work truly begins!
After you bring your dog home from our Board and Train program, don't hesitate to get in touch if you come across any problems or have concerns. You can also share videos for us to evaluate and go over how you're doing. Keep in mind, the goal is not only to train your dog but also to equip you with the skills to carry on this training at home.

Zoom training sessions, where you can send us your videos and we can help you perfect your training skills or demonstrate how to do things on our end. $100 an hour.
One-2-ones Training sessions. Bring your dog down for personal training sessions or we can even come to you with some of my Dog pack and work on Obedience or any behavior issues you need help with.
Need help with an aggressive dog? We would be happy to show you how to work your dog through their aggression, so you can put those fears behind you!

Course Prices vary on not just what course you choose, but on your dogs needs, and your ideal end result after the program! We want to ensure we work on everything you need us to during your dogs stay.
Basic Command Course.
Dog's get several sessions a day to works specifically on their commands. We will teach your dog the basic commands, sit, stay, lay down, come, heel, No, Watch me, place and loose leash walking. Looking for more commands? We can also work on; wait, off, take it & drop it, leave it, out, bed/crate, Stand, settle down, Back up. Whatever you need them to know we can teach them. As they get better at commands, we will move to doing it in multiple different environments, with more distractions.
Commands and Behaviors Course. We will not only work on commands but your dog will spend even more time with us on a daily basis so we can work on any behavior issues in real life scenarios, We will work on any behavior during this course, Besides Aggression.
We will teach your dog the basic commands, sit, stay, lay down, come, heel, No, Watch me, and loose leash walking And of course depending on your behavior issues we may also teach them, wait, off, take it & drop it, leave it, out, place/bed/crate, Stand, settle down, Back up. Dog's get 3 or more sessions a day to works specifically on their commands.
In-between those sessions we will work on any behavior issues such as, teaching them not to jump, Bolt out of the door or gate, dig, bark, poty training, rough housing, chewing on your things or you, stealing food and things off the counter. We can tackle any issues your having at home! We may teach your dog off, if they are jumping on people or leave it and drop it, if they are chewing on things and picking up things they aren't suppose too. We will tackle the important stuff for you during their stay!
Whatever you need them to know we can teach them. As they get better at commands, we will move to doing it in multiple different environments, with more distractions.
Dog Reactive Course Includes previous dog training course.
Fear reactive, leash reactive, dog reactive, if your dog is reactive we can work on it. this also includes any other behavioral issues. Then we want to insure you understand how to bond and communicate with your dog the same way! We know your dog isn't being reactive for no reason. We work with them and find out why and work them threw it! Your dog would be embraced in our pack and learn to eat sleep and live with over 10 dogs. With the help of my personal pack and our rescues we normally see results in the first week, depending on why they are reactive, it may take more time(fearful dogs take the most time). No matter how long they spend here, following through when they come home from the board and train, is most important! This is why we offer 2 personal sessions per week that they attend! We want to insure you know how to work with your dog the same way for lasting success!

Aggression Rehabilitation Includes previous dog training courses.

Aggression Rehabilitation. This is designed for the highly aggressive, Large breed dogs. Dog's that have already bitten Several people, and or dogs.
It doesn't matter if they have been displaying this behavior for a long time. Even if your dog has killed another dog or animal, WE can Help!! We will take on the liability when your dog is attending our course and even get bit for your Pack! This course also includes any behavior issues and Basic Commands!
